Moumita Karmakar always dreamed of achieving something great in life. And when someone has a dream, no matter how difficult the journey may be, it is never beyond reach.

Her restored physical ability and her capacity to walk again are a matter of great pride for all of us. We warmly welcome Utshob’s noble initiative to stand beside Moumita and support her journey.

Moumita, I salute you for your indomitable courage. Every person has a battle to fight in life—some battles are small, while others are much greater. Some choose not to fight, while others face their battles with courage. Those who refuse to fight and neglect their responsibilities are defeated from the very beginning. Those who fight have the greatest possibility of winning.

Even when someone loses a battle after giving their best, there is still a sense of peace in knowing that they remained committed to their duty, stood firm, and never allowed cowardice to take root in their hearts.

Moumita first came to Dhaka about two months ago to have measurements taken for her leg. Her prosthetic leg and the necessary accessories were then made within about a week. She later returned to Dhaka for the fitting of the prosthetic leg and to receive training on how to walk with it. She stayed in Dhaka for a little more than three weeks. Her training has now been completed. She can walk well and even climb stairs.

মৌমিতা কর্মকারের স্বপ্ন ছিল অনেক বড় হওয়ার। আর যে স্বপ্ন দেখতে জানে, তার কাছে কোনো পথই যত কঠিন হোক, অসম্ভব নয়।

শত প্রতিকূলতার মাঝেও আশার প্রদীপ জ্বালিয়ে শ্রদ্ধেয় সুকোমল মোদকের প্রেরণা এবং উৎসবের অংশগ্রহণে মৌমিতা যে নতুন শক্তি ফিরে পেয়েছে, তা সত্যিই অমূল্য। তার শারীরিক সক্ষমতা ফিরে পাওয়া এবং নিজের পায়ে চলার ক্ষমতা অর্জন আজ আমাদের সবার জন্য গৌরবের বিষয়। মৌমিতার পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে উৎসব যে মহতী উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে, তাকে জানাই আন্তরিক স্বাগত।

মৌমিতা, তোমার দুর্দমনীয় সাহসিকতার জন্য তোমাকে সাধুবাদ জানাই। শুধু তোমার জীবনেই নয়, আমাদের প্রত্যেকের জীবনেই কোনো না কোনো যুদ্ধ আছে—কারও যুদ্ধ ছোট, কারও বড়। কেউ সেই যুদ্ধ থেকে পিছিয়ে যায়, আবার কেউ সাহস করে লড়াই করে। যে লড়াই করে না, সে দায়িত্ব অবহেলা করে এবং শুরুতেই পরাজিত হয়। আর যে লড়াই করে, জয়ের সম্ভাবনা তারই সবচেয়ে বেশি।

যুদ্ধে পরাজিত হলেও একজন মানুষের মনে এক ধরনের শান্তি থাকে—কারণ সে তার কর্তব্য থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়নি, কাপুরুষতাকে মনে স্থান দেয়নি এবং শেষ পর্যন্ত নিজের সর্বশক্তি দিয়ে লড়াই করেছে।

আমার বিশ্বাস, তুমি এই যুদ্ধে জয়ী হবে। কারণ তোমার দুর্দমনীয় সাহসই তোমার সবচেয়ে বড় শক্তি। আমরা তোমার পাশে আছি, তোমাকে সাহস জোগাচ্ছি।

মৌমিতা প্রায় দুই মাস আগে প্রথমবার ঢাকায় এসেছিল তার পায়ের মাপ নেওয়ার জন্য। এরপর প্রায় এক সপ্তাহের মধ্যেই তার কৃত্রিম পা ও প্রয়োজনীয় আনুষঙ্গিক সরঞ্জাম তৈরি করা হয়। পরে সে দ্বিতীয়বার ঢাকায় আসে কৃত্রিম পা পরানো এবং তা দিয়ে হাঁটার প্রশিক্ষণ নেওয়ার জন্য। সে ঢাকায় তিন সপ্তাহের কিছু বেশি সময় অবস্থান করেছে। তার প্রশিক্ষণ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। এখন সে ভালোভাবে হাঁটতে পারে, এমনকি সিঁড়িও উঠতে পারে।
